The southernmost region of Ukraine, washed by the Black sea. It is the homeland of Ukrainian shipping industry, tourism, and sailing. Numerous water reservoirs and bulrushes on the mainland of Tavria became habitats for migratory birds. In Karkinit Bay lies the largest island in the Black sea, Jarilgach. In the southeastern corner of the Dnipro estuary, the Ajigol Lighthouse lights up the highest lights in Ukraine every night. The Oleshkivskyi Sands Nature Park, the second largest massif of Central and Eastern Europe, can be also found here.
