Region
This region is located in the Desna River basin in the north of Ukraine. In Sivershchyna, there are multiple natural and historical monuments of ancient times, the Kozak period, and the era of classicism. This forested region has several natural parks, including Mezynskyi and Mizhrichynskyi. Among the architectural complexes of the Sivershchyna, the most famous are the estates in the Kachanivka village and the Galagans palace in Sokyryntsi. The region's largest city is Chernihiv. Sand quarries near the Oleshnia village have become a complex of lakes with clear water. Ferries still run the Desna, considered one of Europe's cleanest large rivers.
A Monument to Defenders of Ukraine is located on the spot of the legendary Kruty battle.
